Antioch was incorporated in 1892.
Recreation -- Visitors enjoy boating, fishing and water skiing on the lakes adjoining the village during summer months; skiing and snowmobiling on the lakes and nearby hills in the winter. Additional recreational facilities include six park sites, a bowling alley, an outdoor swimming pool, a movie theater and the PM&L live stage theater.
Schools -- Antioch Elementary District #34 has five schools with a total enrollment of 2,827. Four parochial elementary schools serve the area. High school students attend Antioch Community High School district #117, with an enrollment of 2,040. The Antioch Township Library provides information for community residents.
Housing -- Most summer cottages have been converted to year-round homes in the lakes region. These homes along with townhouses, condominiums, and newer single-family lots average $65,000 in cost. The 2000 median house value was $166,400 and the median rent cost was $678. (U.S. Census Bureau, 2000)
Government Services -- Fire protection for the Village is provided by a volunteer fire department consisting of 50 volunteer firefighters and one station. Police protection is provided by the Antioch Police Department which has 16 sworn officers on staff.
Transportation -- Antioch residents can reach both Chicago and Milwaukee by way of Interstate 94 and Route 41. Metra commuter rail service on the Wisconsin Central Line serves residents in the area.
